Dearest Monica,
This letter could be better, but I decided to procrastinate (what else is new?), and it’s due tomorrow morning. Luckily I already outlined most of it, so here we go. If this is more than two years from today, you better have transferred to a university by now! Are you in California? Did you end up going to Santa Monica College? How’s Derek? Are we still together, and as happy as we were as teens?
As of right now, I’m about to graduate High School. I want to tell you, the past four years have been crazy beyond words. It seems like I have a lot of regret, and screwed up…but I recently came to realize something. I cannot bring myself to have any regrets. I am an extremely firm believer that everything happens for a reason, even in day to day life. Every single occurrence in our lives has a purpose, which makes everything ultimately purposeless. All we can do is the task in front of us, surrender to the moment. Speaking of which, do you still believe in the dream? Life is so blissful right now, and I merely go with the flow and live for love. Although that sounds cliché, the love I am talking about it more than meets the eye. Love is the oneness we share with the universe. Love is having enough self worth, so you may love others unconditionally. But I’m getting a little too deep right now. [; All I can say is our flaws make us flawless, and we cannot be judged unless we allow people to judge us.
Do you still practice yoga? As of right now, yoga is the main thing that keeps your mind intact. Have you considered becoming an instructor? Are you still a vegetarian?! It’s already been 4 years of veggieness.
If you haven’t traveled abroad yet, you better get on that! I really hope you had the opportunity to study Spanish in another country.
Honestly, I’m not that worried whether or not you’re some P.H.D C.E.O or have your life exactly cut out as planned. Are you happy? Do you consider yourself an honest person? As long as you live intentionally, compassionately, and strive to be the best you can for others, you are successful. Everything else comes naturally.
I feel like I should be more excited about graduating. To tell you the truth, life is really great right now; I am content and really enjoying having time for the little things. I am afraid that a stressful college schedule will strip that all away from me. I hope you are remembering to take some time for yourself, to meditate, and look at things from a different perspective- don’t get too caught up in the dream. I probably am subconsciously stoked to graduate…I’ve just never been good at change.
You’re fine, you’re fine. Everything is okay. I love you!
Peace, love, and eternity.
Love, Monica Lee Palomino
