Hey, Future Me, its 13-year-old Giavanna here. 2020 hasn't been a good year in the slightest. I swear to god its only April 28th but it feels like it's been ten years since 2020 started. To start off, in JANUARY, we almost had WWIII because of Trump ******* (I think) the Syrian president. Then the first case of coronavirus entered the USA. To be exact, it was a 35-year-old man in Washington state. I'm pretty sure he died later on. We all heard about it in school, but nobody really paid any attention. We all said, "Oh, it's basically the flu. It'll pass" At least, I said that. Oh, how wrong I would be. But, it wasn't all bad for me. I got two kittens! Apollo and Nova. And I also signed up for track. Anywho, we're going to life in February 2020. Nothing horrible happened in February. I mean there were a couple of shootings, but that's to be expected. The coronavirus got worse. Now, March 2020. Where do I even start? It was horrible. On March 1st, I was complaining to Gwen about how everybody was overreacting about the coronavirus and that it would just pass over. That there was no need to close schools. Eleven days later, March 12, at the very end of the day, we got an announcement. Now, I will never forget this part of the story, mainly because before this it was just a normal day. We were sitting in the 9th period, Mrs. Beckett's class. Then, the announcement. The announcement was, "Everybody pack up your lockers. Take everything home. All after school activities will be canceled." We weren't told why until we were on the bus. SCHOOL WAS CANCELED FOR THREE WEEKS. WOOHOOOO!! I'M GONNA HANG OUT WITH MY FRIENDS FOR THE ENTIRE TIME. No, that did happen. Almost overnight, a quarantine was put into place, six feet apart at all times. The first night, Aleena, Alice, and I all had a sleepover. That didn't happen again. And then, chaos ensued. People were panic buying, including mom. We had enough food for a month. A few weeks later, DeWine announced that schools were closed until May 4th. No big deal, we thought. Then, April 13th ish, the news came. The school was closed for the rest of the year. That was it, no more track season. RIP everything people left in their lockers. And I might not even have a cross country season, but I'm praying I do. Anyway, that's basically all that's happened in the last three months.
Wishing you well,
2020 Giavanna.
